Many of us struggle to keep going and persevere in the face of adversity. Here is a short 1 minute video with Steve Jobs and what he considers his secret to success.
The question is: In your company or business do you have passion for creating great new products? Do you or your management team have a long term vision to persevere in the long run and build a sustainable and scalable business? Or do you start the cut this, cut that mentality as soon as you encounter a slight headwind?
Innovation and product development is hard work. It takes a long-term vision, a talented team, with passion, and a willingness to take risks. A great read on the life of Steve Jobs came out in the recent Bloomberg Business Week. It’s worth the read. Jobs’ genius was his ability to make things simple and elegant. Easy to see in the final product, but hard to do during the development stages. He also had a contrarian element. Think about the Apple advertising line “Think Different.” The first time I read it, I was appalled since it is grammatically incorrect, but knowing Jobs’ contrarian style, that’s exactly the way he wanted it. Different from the rest of the pack.
