My post today is a little late this morning. I was consumed yesterday monitoring Hurricane Irma since my elderly mom lives in Fort Myers, Florida which took a near direct hit from Irma. We talked after the eye-wall passed (amazingly her cell phone worked) and she was fine. She was able to shelter in place with four others in a well protected condo on the second floor with heavy duty hurricane shutters. Her condo also has heavy duty hurricane shutters, but was on the first floor. With the forecast for a large storm surge, she had to move upstairs. She was able to get back to her own condo on Monday morning. Minimal damage but the power is still out. As the damage assessment starts today, we will be able to assess the full impact of the storm. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all who have been impacted by both hurricane Harvey and Irma. Back-to-back big storms. The American people are strong and will respond. Think of what one man did; JJ Watt of the Houston Texans NFL team has raised over $30 million for the hurricane Harvey relief effort.
Also, today is the Anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and the United flight that went down in Pennsylvania. We honor those who tragically lost their lives and the many first responders who unselfishly stepped up to help those in trouble. From adversity strength emerges.
